Artist's Vision
(in brief)
Conrad is a New Mexico artist whose images often relate to the (in)balance between two fundamental forces, order and disorder, and between two elemental geometries, Euclidian and fractal, the former of human construct and the latter intrinsic to nature. Conrad proudly works in the tradition pioneered by giants in the field including Weston, Adams and Porter, unabashedly using “straight” photography to attain his vision by letting the world speak plainly for itself with little, if any, artist interpretation or intervention, manipulation or elaboration. He is reverently respectful of the land, sea, sky, and all that naturally dwells there, as well as the human edifices within, attempting to capture their essences just as they are—faithfully, truthfully and honestly as he sees and feels them at the moment. Many of his photographic images highlight the inevitable decay and dissolution of the aging, dying and dead evoking sad feelings of loneliness, and of being abandoned or discarded and totally forgotten, while concurrently revealing a beauty and grace, and pride and nobility that shine through so radiantly in the end.
